Just a quick blog entry to update everyone on the half-marathon aspirations of our NFA staff team. Yes, they are still going to run the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 6 October, and spirits are high!
Five members of the NFA Wales team, Trish Jarrett, Ann-Marie Davies, Matt Holmes, Rachel Ellacott and Sabine Ruehl and one member of the South West team, Stuart Oliver are spending their free time running up and down the country to prepare for the big day. They have all broken the six mile barrier and will be adding in some extra miles before the race. Top of the group is Matt Holmes who manages six miles in half an hour with the rest not far behind – he clearly has his Weetabix in the mornings! They are all determined to finish the race regardless of their time as ‘it’s the taking part that counts’.
They are running for a charity called Clic Sargent which is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children, young people and their families. They provide clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life.
If you are in Cardiff on the day, come along and cheer them on! Most of the Wales team will be sporting their purple NFA t-shirts with pride so you can’t miss them!
