Care Commission Scotland upgrade NFA Scotland to "Very Good"

25/01/2011

The Care Commission Scotland has completed their latest inspection report on NFA Scotland’s fostering services and has upgraded the organisation to a 'Very Good' rating.

The report carried out in December 2010 outlines improvements to services underpinned by good communication and consultation:

'The agency (NFA Scotland) is part of a national organisation which continues to develop the range of opportunities for consultation provided to both Foster Carers and children. Senior managers make themselves available for both formal and informal meetings with carers throughout the year.'

Feedback from the care commission includes statements on taking carers views into account in order to improve the services provided:

'National Fostering Agency Scotland continues to grow and develop since the previous inspection. There was very good evidence that the agency was systematically gathering and analysing the views of people who use the service and using this information to make improvements.'

Another area which has improved nd let to the upgraded rating for NFA Scotland is feedback on the support provided by Social Workers to Carers:

Carers participated in group, telephone and one to one interviews with Care Commission staff. Most spoke very positively about the support they receive from their Supervising Social Worker stating they always return calls and are "brilliant!".
