I am a Supervising Social Worker at Children First
Jessica Pratt-Wavell I am an office based Supervising Social Worker; my role includes supporting foster carers to support the children who they have in placement. I cover a variety of areas within South Essex, London and Bedfordshire. My background includes child protection and assessment social work. My role also includes assessing new foster carers and completing their Form F Assessment whereby I assess new applicants who wish to be part of the Children’s First family. This role includes visiting new applicants and exploring areas about their life which include their childhood, employment, education, experiences of parenting or working with children and their reasons for applying to foster. The role of a Supervising Social Worker includes working collaboratively with the foster carers completing frequent visits, identifying training, reviewing progress and attending meetings with professionals and meetings for the child in placement such as PEP and LAC meetings. This is the ensure a child is supported to grow, develop and thrive within a foster carer placement. Other tasks that I will also be undertaking include workshops on ‘Training Development Standards’. Training Development Standards are what foster carers should know, understand and be able to demonstrate within their first year of approval. Foster Carers will be supported in evidencing their skills, capabilities and development in their first year fostering journey within the workshops.
