I am one of the Team Support Workers at Children First.
As the team support worker, my role is really varied. I support the social workers with some of their case work, collecting signed paperwork to support with compliance, attending PEP and LAC meetings where SSW’s do not have the availability to attend, completing occasional unannounced visits to carer households and bedroom checks, transporting children and looking after children whilst carers attend important meetings or training at short notice when their own support network is unavailable. I also support families with supervised contact in our own contact suite. I also on occasion do direct pieces of work with children around individually identified areas of a child’s needs I am also, jointly responsible for the organising and delivery of events at Children First. We hold several themed VOX events where we meet with groups of looked after children to consider their views around specific areas of fostering to help inform our service. I am currently the agency’s main contact for Carer Recruitment enquiries. I carry out Initial enquiries and initial visits to families that are considering becoming foster carers with our agency. I am also responsible for carrying out any other duties that assist in the recruitment of new foster carers. I have a very good relationship with all of our existing fostering families keeping them engaged in activities that the agency regularly hold, I believe this is an important part of my role to show our carers how they are appreciated for everything that they do. Children First is a family feel agency, always being able to depend on those we work with and being fully supported. I am always happy to help my colleagues in any other areas of work where I can when it is needed.
