Supervising Social Worker

Hi, my name is Ally and I am delighted to be joining the team at EFC. I have worked in various local authority roles since 2006 before retraining to be a social worker. As part of my social work journey I have gained experience with a perinatal mental health charity, domestic abuse service, local authority safeguarding, a homeless hostel and the prison service before returning to the local authority as part of the cared for children team in November 2020, initially as a student social worker and then as a qualified social worker, before coming to EFC in August 2022. I am passionate about supporting foster families to provide attuned, therapeutic care as well ensuring that young people’s voices are heard in their care planning. I am also a determined and creative advocate who is very focused on achieving the best outcomes for young people. I chose to apply for the position of supervising social worker after reading EFC’s statement of purpose and finding out that their core values very much aligned with my own. The ‘family approach’ that runs through EFC is something that I value and I am looking forward to working as part of a small, friendly, ‘hands on’ team, supporting foster carers to provide a secure base for young people, where they feel safe, valued, supported, heard and loved. For the foster families and young people I work alongside I aim to be someone that they can trust and believe in, and most importantly someone who can support young people to believe in themselves.
