Our network of foster carers are well-trained, carefully assessed, rigorously approved and always fully supported.
Working in close partnership with Local Authorities and all other agencies, we make sure we find just the right foster care placement for every child, always seeking to improve the quality of life for the child and helping them realise their full potential.
Always fully supported
Our foster carers never feel alone. They form part of a wider team of professionals who provide all the training and support that our foster carers deserve.
Many children have complex needs which can be challenging for our foster carers to deal with, which is why we invest heavily in training and support.
All of our foster carers benefit from:
The full support of a nominated supervising social worker
24/7 telephone support
A monthly visit and a weekly telephone call
Generous financial support for caring for each child
Professional training and mentorship
The opportunity to meet with other foster carers at local support groups
Membership of the Foster Talk network
Legal protection insurance
Regular foster carer’s news and information
We give them a great start and keep them growing
Every new applicant attends our ‘Skills to Foster’ course before we approve them as a foster carer. Once they become a carer, we provide a wide variety of professional courses so they can continue to develop their skills and grow in confidence and knowledge.
They won’t have to go far to find one of our local training centres and they can access additional courses by computer, tablet and smartphone.
National Fostering Agency training is completely free, high-quality, flexible and straightforward. Our courses include ‘cognitive behavioural therapy’, ‘attachment and bonding in abused and neglected children’ and ‘parent and child fostering’.
