I have been working in Social Care since 1997 and worked with Newport City Council for the majority of my career. I initially worked in their residential services before qualifying as a social worker in 2004. The majority of my practice has been served in front line child protection teams and I have been lucky enough to work as both a social worker and team manager in the field of child protection and family support services.
As part of my career pathway I have had the opportunity to work as an independent assessing social worker within both child protection and fostering environments throughout Wales and some English Authorities. I have been an independent chairperson of foster panels for two independent agencies totally a 7 year period of my career and had the opportunity to Manage a team of supervising social workers on an interim basis with NFA Wales I felt that the were some excellent opportunities within the organisation to support foster carers and to develop and promote good practice to ensure that excellent outcomes are achieved for the children in our care.
