At Fostering Relations we believe it is important to support our local communities. Children of all backgrounds need a safe and stimulating space to grow and develop. Local facilities help children to feel part of a community, encourage engagement and more importantly to feel included.
At Bayside Football Club in Dalgety Bay, Fife, inclusion and building confidence is at the heart of what they promote and this is why we decided to sponsor such an inspirational club. The emphasis at the club is firmly on development and fun, and they welcome along all children regardless of ability. The club motto is “FUN, FRIENDSHIP & FOOTBALL”- each aspect as important as the others.
At present there are two teams (Athletic and Colts) at the 2005 age group who all compete in the Fife Football Development League in Fife. Bayside 2005s currently have two teams both playing in different leagues against different opposition across Fife and also compete nationally in the Cup competitions. Both squads have 18 boys, however Bayside as a club have teams from 2013s all the way through to Amateurs including girls teams at numerous age groups. They also have a training hub where upwards of ten teams train and play at the same time with other teams across Fife.
The head coach Lee Morris explains “as a coaching team we believe there is more to football than training and playing on a Sunday. As such we actively seek out opportunities and experiences for the boys ensuring they have plenty of positive memories to look back on in the years to come. As a group we have played friendlies in Newcastle, Carlisle and Aberdeen to name a few and often attend a professional game following these friendlies. More recently a group of the boys climbed Ben Nevis to raise money for their team and Cancer Research UK. We are also just about to head down to the Manchester City Academy to give the boys another experience to remember as they get older.”
