Join Us and Learn all about Fostering at our free ‘Festival of Fostering’ this February

Tuesday 19 January 2021

This Fostering February, the National Fostering Group is thrilled to invite you to join our brand new free, interactive and informative virtual event – the Festival of Fostering – taking place on Saturday 20th February.

We have a whole host of virtual events lined up, where you’ll have the opportunity to find out all about fostering from the comfort of your own home. From meeting our inspirational foster carers, learning about therapeutic parenting, joining our mindfulness session, meeting the team at The National Fostering Group, gaining insight from a Fostering Panel and much more, your day will be filled with lots to learn, the opportunity to connect with others, whilst having fun!

Launching with the first event from our Sharing Stage, you will hear from leading experts within the field of foster care, sharing information about how the coronavirus has impacted on fostering and gaining insight from specialists in the sector, including a panel member from Ofsted, The Fostering Network, the NAFP (Nationwide Association of Fostering Providers) and a Social Worker. On the Sharing Stage, you will also be able to join in with our Book Club. We’ll be speaking to an author to find out more about the inspiration behind their books, and the most informative books to read if you are thinking of fostering.

Make sure you head to the Learning Stage and join in with our Theraplay Workshop, where you can find out about what it is, how it supports children and their carers and how we use this in our own practices. There’ll also be a Therapeutic Parenting session and how we can support foster carers in developing the knowledge and skills in this approach, as well as a Digital Safeguarding Session, focusing on the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.

Start your fostering journey today

This year more than ever, keeping a healthy mind and body is so important, which is why we have a Wellbeing Stage, where you can find out about Mindfulness, taking part in some simple stretches and having time to yourselves to relax and unwind, and enjoy of course!

If you’d like to speak to one of our fostering agencies in your local area, be sure to visit the Local Stage, where you have the opportunity to connect with our teams from across the UK and find out about becoming a foster carer and the support provided.

At our Campaign by Kids Stage, you’ll meet some of the children and they’ll be taking the microphone to ask Foster Carers about their fostering experiences, the highlights of their journey, and what fostering means to them. You’ll also have the opportunity to find out what inspiring author Jacqueline Wilson answers to questions asked by the children too!

Not to forget the Rewind Stage, where you can watch our previous popular virtual events, including Money Matters, Applying to Foster During Covid, the Different Types of Foster Care, meet inspiring foster carers who have had a Career in Caring and Fostering Teenagers.

If you feel you still have a question or would like someone to talk to about fostering, then not to worry, as throughout the whole day, you can head to the Main Stage, where our team will be on hand to support you and answer any questions you have. Here, you’ll also be able to find out all about The National Fostering Group and what we do, along with lots of useful guidance and access to our Frequently Asked Questions.
