Vintage Tea Club Fundraiser Remembers NFA Colleague & Friend

Thursday 24 March 2016

The National Fostering Agency held a MacMillan Coffee Morning on 27th September to raise money for cancer care. The event was in memory of our friend and colleague Mike Steane who passed away last year.

The event was a huge success with both staff and foster carers baking delicious treats including a chocolate and Guinness cake (which disappeared in under 5 minutes), cupcakes, lemon drizzle cake, carrot cake and more. Guests were also treated to complimentary Indian head massages from one of our foster carers along with a retro tuck shop with sweets galore!

Over the course of the day around 100 people came and generously supported MacMillan and the East Lancashire Hospice including staff, foster carers, friends, family and other businesses in the Genesis Centre.

The coffee morning raised over £700 for a very worthy cause, and the NFA would like to thank everyone involved. The only things left at the end of a very busy day were empty plates and a very full North West team!

The money raised will be split between the East Lancashire Hospice where Mike received specialist care, and MacMillan. Plans are already afoot to host the event again in 2014.
