Laura

Supervising Social Worker

I am relatively new to the team and to fostering, having had some experience in my final year placement at university. I qualified as a social worker in 2021 and since then have worked with one of the Local Authority's in Bristol in a Safeguarding children and family's team. What you will likely notice about me is that I am very child focused and genuinely care about the children and young people that we work with. I believe that children and young people should be supported to have a voice and be able to contribute to plans and decisions being made about their own lives. I have worked alongside various other organisations such as schools, health, police and support agencies and believe that we all have a role to play in protecting and supporting children and young people in our homes and our communities.  I do not underestimate the very challenging role of foster carers and appreciate the hard work that you put in everyday to support children and young people to achieve better outcomes. Here at EFC, I support a small case load of foster carers whom I am currently getting to know, and have been impressed by the level of dedication and advocacy I have observed so far.
