Grace

Family Assessment Social Worker

My name is Grace, and I’m a Family Assessment Social Worker, here at Arun Hope.
I am a qualified social worker with a master’s degree in social work. I am also a practice educator and have worked within frontline child protection teams since 2017. I have supervised newly qualified social workers supporting their development as practitioners.
I am experienced in completing parenting assessments during family court proceedings and providing written and verbal evidence to the family courts.

I feel privileged to be in a position to work with children and families and to support parents to meet the needs of their children. Social work is a difficult but rewarding job, with the best parts being making decisions for children that change the scope of their lives. I am looking forward to working with families in ways that are flexible and personalised; where I will have time to build supporting professional relationships where open and honest conversations can take place which highlight the strengths and areas of need.
As well as supporting families to stay together, I understand that assessment centers might be the final opportunity for parents to be supported to care for their children, and just how overwhelming that must be for them. It is important to me to always remain kind and considered when working with parents at Arun Hope seeking to understand their narratives which might have shaped their own parenting.

I am looking forward to celebrating families’ strengths and achievements and having the potential to be part of their journey to grow as parents and where possible to independently keep their children safe.

I enjoy cooking, walking and spending time with family and friends and I drink about 500 cups of tea a day!
