Find out if you could be a foster carer
In a few simple questions, you’ll know if you’re suitable to apply to become a foster carer.
Hi, I’m Laura, a casual waking night support worker at Arun Hope.
I have worked with children on a voluntary basis for many years, variously as a Youth group leader and for creche and children’s Sunday school groups. I enjoy supporting and empowering people, and I am trained as a volunteer Befriender for a local SEND charity and am co-leader of a support group for parents of children with SEND. I recently completed a counselling studies qualification, which helped develop my skills in empathetic listening and non-judgemental support.
I am excited to be working at Arun Hope, seeing the children grow and express their personalities and supporting the parents in developing their skills and confidence to enable them to create a safe and nurturing home for their children. Working in a multidisciplinary team with such a broad range of experience is a new experience for me and I love how different perspectives of the team contribute to the work we do with the families.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy flower arranging. I’m also learning to crochet!...particularly while watching endless detective shows with my family!!
