Opening Hours
Supervising social workers are the interface between the agency and its foster carers and fulfil a vital role in supporting fostering families. They provide out of hours support, with a local rota system so foster carers can always talk to someone who is familiar with them and their children.
At NFA South West, we believe that achieving the best outcomes for children is a shared effort. Through experience, we’ve learned that no single person, team, or agency can do it alone. That’s why we value the voices of all stakeholders—children, young people, foster carers, families, and staff.
We are a listening organisation, committed to learning, innovation, and continuous improvement. By working together, we ensure that NFA South West remains an effective, supportive, and child-focused foster care agency.
Join us in shaping a brighter future—your thoughts, experiences, and insights matter.Mark Pethick, Registered Manager
NFA South West prides itself on being open and honest with children, foster carers and Local Authorities, as well as keeping to its promises. The Agency recognises that the fostering journey is not always easy but guarantees to support foster carers every step of the way. It maintains good channels of communication with Local Authorities and strives to work seamlessly with other professionals to safeguard and support the interests of children
NFA South West adopts a “whatever it takes” attitude to supporting foster carers and children. The agency has been operating in the South West for over 15 years, has an established staff team and has built up strong relationships with Local Authorities. NFA South West is a valued fostering provider and there are many times that staff and foster carers go out of their way to help, particularly if there is a crisis.
The stability of a child’s placement is critical to enable recovery from adverse childhood experiences and achieve the progress and outcomes we desire for every young person; that’s why we work extremely hard to match children with carers who can meet the child’s individual needs. We recognise that every child has different needs and aspirations and every carer has a different skillset and experience to offer. We work closely with our referring Local Authorities to match children as close as possible to the desired geographical area to enable children to maintain their education and connections with friends and family. The agency is resourced to provide bespoke packages of wrap-around support, care and training, so that the unique needs of every child and their carer are supported to achieve the very best outcomes for our children and young people.
The agency values being part of a large organisation that is committed to delivering the best services for children. The group’s focus on therapeutic parenting is something it particularly appreciates as this gives foster carers solid foundations and helps them to understand the roots of childhood trauma and distress and how to support children going forward. Being part of a large group also enables it to negotiate with Local Authorities from a position of strength and ensures that foster carers are well paid and receive a package of benefits, both of which are vital to deliver excellent care.
