Asian fostering in Harrow

Thursday 24 March 2016

There is a significant shortage of Asian foster families available to care for vulnerable children in some areas, and there is currently an urgent need for Asian foster carers in Harrow in particular.

The National Fostering Agency works closely with Local Authorities in finding appropriate foster carers to care for children’s needs. Where possible, we aim to match children with families in their local area from the same ethnic background and religion. Recent figures suggest that 19% of children in foster care in Harrow are Asian, all of whom need to be placed with carers who can meet their physical, emotional and cultural needs. With the number of children in care increasing every year, we are always looking for more people who are able to open their hearts and homes to children and young people.

We are interested in hearing from anyone in the Asian community who may have thought about fostering or would like to find out more. We are committed to spreading the word so that more people know about the great opportunities to make a difference that are available.

There is a tax-free weekly allowance and support from highly experienced and qualified staff, 24 hours per day, seven days a week. Continual training and development is also on offer, with opportunities to meet other carers in your area at events and support groups.

If you can offer a secure, safe and loving environment for a child and have the time, energy and commitment to care for young people, read more about becoming a foster carer or get in touch with your local team.
