Carer Cooking Classes

Thursday 15 February 2018

Great Britain is home to many people from a diverse range of backgrounds. To celebrate the cultures that have embraced our country, NFA South West have introduced cooking classes for our carers.

Here at NFA, we pride ourselves for listening to our carers, and gathering ideas which will further help our foster carers in their day-to-day lives.

Each cooking class will give carers the opportunity to explore through a variety of different cuisines, from South Asian curries to African delicacies.

Start your fostering journey today

It doesn’t matter what level of cooking you are at, one thing is for certain; you will leave with a new recipe to try at home for your family and friends. Carers will leave each class with a new appreciation of skills that will be acquired throughout each session and our cooking classes will take you to a new country around the world, helping to delve into different cultures through their special dishes.

Bristol and South Gloucestershire carers enjoyed their first cooking class where they were taught how to cook a Pakistani Chicken Karahi. They were able to learn the difference between Pakistani, Indian and Bengali food, and the variety of spices and styles used to make a curry taste as close to those parts of the world. The carers were provided with their very own NFA recipe books, in which they noted down the ingredients used as well as the method applied to make the curry at home.

Keep an eye out for our next cooking class, where we will be cooking up an African-inspired dish!
