Fostering February is National Fostering Group’s annual campaign to let people know about the incredible work that our foster carers do… in the hope that more of you will join them in creating safe, secure and nurturing environments so that more vulnerable children and young people can have the great start in life they deserve.
Across England, there are currently *around 45,370 foster families, and in the North West alone, there are *around 9,190 children and young people living with a foster family – that number is growing all the time.
By letting people know about fostering and what’s involved, we hope to inspire more people to come forward and consider becoming foster carers. It’s straightforward to enquire and there’s absolutely no obligation to proceed. Who knows, it might just change your life (and the lives of children and young people).
The theme we’ve chosen this year is ‘A Reason to Foster’. We asked some of our foster carers to share what led them to make this rewarding – and sometimes challenging – life choice. They point out that fostering is far more than just a job, it is a way of life. It is 24/7. And it is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. Fostering is all about creating safe, secure and nurturing environments for some of our most vulnerable children and young people. Can you join us in raising awareness of the need for more foster carers across the UK?

Who knows, maybe you, too, will discover a #reasontofoster.
