NFA Wales and South West To Tackle Cardiff Half Marathon for Charity

Thursday 24 March 2016

Members of the NFA Wales and South West teams will be competing in the Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 6th October to raise money for CLIC Sargent.

The team of six embarking on the 13.1 mile race through the Welsh capital include referral co-ordinator Matt Holmes, team Manager Ann-Marie Davies, regional manager Trish Jarrett and supervising social workers Stuart Oliver, Sabine Ruehl and Rachel Ellacott.

The enthusiastic runners from NFA are raising money for CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children, young people and their families.

Trish Jarrett, the only team member to have run the course before, is looking to set a new personal best. The others in the group are looking to complete the course in a good time while enjoying some of Cardiff’s most iconic landmarks, historic buildings and beautiful scenery.

The race begins at Cardiff’s impressive castle and takes in Cardiff City Stadium, Penarth Marina and Cardiff Bay before returning to the heart of the historic city at the Civic Centre.

The organisers hope that the number of spectators will exceed last year’s event where 40,000 people lined the streets to cheer on the runners and help create an electric atmosphere.

CLIC Sargent provide clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help children and young people with cancer and their families to cope with the illness and the effect it has on family life.

The team are collecting donations for an extremely worthwhile cause and if you would like to donate, please visit their and click on the donate icon on the right hand side of the page.
