Help transform lives this Foster Care Fortnight

Monday 15 May 2017

Taking place from Monday 8th to Sunday 21st May, Foster Care Fortnight is the UK’s biggest foster care awareness campaign, run by leading charity The Fostering Network. The campaign showcases the commitment, passion and dedication of foster carers, and the National Fostering Agency is fully supporting it.

At least 7,180 new foster families are needed throughout the UK in the next 12 months, and by spreading awareness you can help find them. The greatest needs are for foster carers for older children, sibling groups, disabled children and unaccompanied asylum seeking children.

Foster care transforms lives

The overarching theme of Foster Care Fortnight is ‘foster care transforms lives’. And like The Fostering Network, we’re passionate about the difference foster care makes to the lives of children and young people.

Foster care doesn’t just transform the lives of people who are fostered though, it also has the power to change the lives of foster carers, their families and everyone involved. By sharing the stories of these people, Foster Care Fortnight raises the profile of fostering and explains the need for ever more carers.

Spread the word

We often find that existing foster carers are the best advert for fostering. So if you’re a foster carer or part of a foster family, please help spread the word.

Tell others your fostering story and encourage them to find out more by visiting our website. A great way to spread the word is to print off a placard, take a photo of your family with it, and share it online with the hashtags #FCF17, #ProudToFoster and #ProudToSupportFostering.

If you’re not a foster carer already, perhaps now is the time to consider becoming one. Find out about all the joys and challenges on our  becoming a foster carer page.
