Find out if you could be a foster carer
In a few simple questions, you’ll know if you’re suitable to apply to become a foster carer.
Thursday 24 March 2016
The East Region of the National Fostering Agency is to hold its annual Summer Ball on the 7th June 2014 at Menzies Hotel, Cambridge (CB23 8EU) where it will celebrate the achievements of the East Region foster carers who foster many of East Anglia’s most vulnerable children.
Alongside these celebrations the East is holding a Charity Golf Tournament to raise funds for an NFA Group supported schools project (the Tengecha School in Kenya) which ensures the health, education and welfare needs of local children are met. NFA Foster carers who are keen golfers will complete a full round alongside NFA social workers and staff. Money raised on the day will help the current project, designed to ensure fresh water is available to the school via a bore hole.
An additional focus of the day will be to offer anyone who is interested in or has considered fostering, or perhaps, who is a current foster carer a chance to meet our staff and carers for an informal discussion about fostering with NFA.
The National Fostering Agency aims to increase awareness around Cambridgeshire about fostering and is looking to increase its approved foster carer numbers locally. Foster carers have the opportunity to make an amazing difference to a young person’s passage towards adulthood, and with over 92,000 looked after children in the United Kingdom we would encourage anyone interested to come an meet us or alternatively, call our offices on 01502 588 349. There is a particular need for foster carers who are willing to foster older children. The NFA foster carers are supported by local professionally qualified supervising social workers and are provided with regular training to enable them to ‘make a real difference’.
If you are interested in fostering, the event will be taking place at Menzies Hotel, Bar Hill, Cambridge, CB23 8EU on the 7th June 14 and we are also holding the ‘come and meet us event’ between 12 – 2pm on the Saturday afternoon
If you are unable to make the 7th June 14 but are still interested in fostering please visit our website www.nfa.co.uk or call the nfa team on 01502 588 349. We would love to hear from you.
