A team of cyclists from the National Fostering Agency Group (NFA) will be taking part in the London to Brighton Cycle Ride this Sunday 8th September. Led by Mark Garrat, the Group’s Finance Director and Iain Owens, Carer Recruitment Officer based in Manchester and five further NFA colleagues will be embarking on the city to coast challenge to raise vital funds for children’s charity Place2Be.
The NFA Group Team will be pumping their legs as part of a team of 61 cyclists from Place2Be. The true extent of pedal power will be realised as they tackle the gruelling 54 mile challenge. Iain and the team are well prepared though, having completed a gruelling training schedule in preparation for the challenge.
The event begins at Clapham Common and then leaves London heading towards the South East coast. The cyclists will travel through Mitcham, Carshalton, Chipastead, Banstead and Haywards Heath before finishing up on the Brighton seafront. Fish and chips on the beach will no doubt be a welcome reward for their efforts and maybe an icecream too.
The NFA Group team are delighted to be riding for such a worthy cause. Jenny Clarke, Fundraising Officer at Place2Be, explains, “Children come to Place2Be with problems ranging from bereavement, family breakdown and domestic violence, to trauma and bullying. Every child deserves to grow up with a future of prospects rather than problems, and through providing vital support in schools Place2Be helps children to do just that. However the charity depends on vital funds to reach more children.
