We have exciting news! We at the National Fostering Group are launching a series of online events to tell you everything you need to know about fostering.

They are free to attend and you can watch live on our Facebook page, or YouTube Channel. If you can’t make the live event you can watch them back below. It’s a great way to find out more about fostering, the benefits, and the team who will support you on your journey.

Event Name: Specialist Fostering – Virtual Event

What’s it all about: Find out more about how your transferable skills from working in residential, social and health care, education, youth justice/police can support a child or young person moving from residential care into a family setting again through foster care.

Event Name: Sibling Day – Virtual Event

What’s it all about: Saturday 10th April is National Sibling Day. We will be meeting foster families with birth and fostered siblings and talk to them about their fostering journey. What’s it all about: Our free, one day festival, it is your chance to speak to the professionals and learn more about fostering through live, interactive events.

Event Name: Keep Children Safe Online, Safer Internet Day: Virtual Event

What’s it all about: Tuesday 9th February is Safer Internet Day.
We will be talking to a member of the Police Force about digital footprints, app safety, and having open conversations about apps, gaming and internet use.

About this event:

Our fostering family along with a special guest in a red suit have teamed up to bring Christmas to your home this year!

Celebrate Christmas with Us

Watch us turn on the National Fostering Group Christmas lights, find out what Christmas is like for a foster family, and see the big man himself – Santa!

Event: Applying to Foster During Covid

About this event: 

Now more than ever we are looking to speak to people interested in fostering.

We have adapted the application process so it can now been done almost completely virtual online – Don’t worry we support you with the technology!

With the introduction of the Fast Track programme you can now be an approved to foster in 8 – 12 weeks  . We’ll be speaking to a foster carer who has been through the approval process during Covid, and the team who supported them.

Event Name: Career in Caring

What’s it all about: We’ll be talking to two foster carers who have swapped careers in the police and hospitality and followed their dreams to become foster carers.

Event Name: Types of Foster Care

What’s it all about: Did you know there are different types of fostering? Meet a carer who has looked after children and young people of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers. They will also talk about their experience of parent and child fostering.

We’ll be talking to Lisa about her fostering journey. What inspired her to become a foster carer, some of her most memorable moments, and what advice she would give to any one thinking about becoming a foster carer too.

Event Name: Your Pets & Fostering:

What’s it all about: For this event we’ll be joined Abigail from the National Fostering Group Team, one of her carers – and their dog, Magic! We’ll be talking about how pets are included as part of the fostering journey. We’ll also be joined by Sarah a Support Worker and horse therapist, who’ll talk about how animals can play a therapeutic role in the fostering.
