Continuing a campaign to raise awareness of the pressing need for an additional 8000 foster families to care for vulnerable children and young people across the UK, the NFA Group, the largest independent provider of high-quality foster care are aiming to get 8000 voices in total on record with re-worked versions of their original song ‘The Light and The Calm’.

The original song was recorded at Abbey Road Studios after collaborating with more than 200 foster carers, birth and looked-after children throughout the creation and production of the track.

Expertly capturing the moving sentiments our foster children harbour for the positive impact foster carers have had on their lives, the song was originally recorded and filmed with an ensemble of more than 40 children and foster carers as part of our support for The Fostering Network’s annual Foster Care Fortnight.

David Leatherbarrow, CEO of NFA Group, commented: “Our song captures the important role and positive impact fostering has on many vulnerable children. Foster carers are trained and skilled experts in their field and provide an exceptional service to local communities, opening not only their home but also their heart to children in need and local to them.”

The NFA hopes the song’s poignant message of hope and family togetherness will be heard far and wide during a time where families across the UK traditionally get to spend a lot of quality time together.

With many people across all walks of life able to foster as long as they are over 21 years of age and have access to a spare bedroom, the NFA is highlighting how becoming a foster carer can truly transform the lives of children who simply want to live in a safe and nurturing environment.

This is why they are planning to officially release ‘The Light and The Calm’ on all major music listening platforms including iTunes and Spotify from 15 December.

This will be followed by a series of accompanying videos of the song being performed by members of the fostering community alongside choir, theatre and music groups from across the country.

All proceeds from song sales will be given to our chosen charity, WellChild, the national charity for giving children with serious health needs the chance to receive care within their own homes.

The NFA are inviting as many people as possible to share their own videos of them singing the song, no matter whether they are at home or singing it proudly in the street. These clips can be sent over to [email protected] and posted across their own social media channels with the hashtag #8000voices, which will ensure it reaches everyone who is interested in changing young lives for the better as we enter 2020.
