NFA are proud of their comprehensive, high quality training programme, as we are dedicated to the continuous professional development of our foster carers. Training enables carers to work with parents and children in the context of multi-cultural society – it enhances their existing skills and knowledge and helps them to develop new approaches to fostering tasks. New applicants attend a 3 days Skills to Foster preparation course before they are approved as foster carers. Existing carers for the agency attend part of this training to share their practical knowledge and experience to the group, alongside a manager who speaks to the group about how NFA works and support our carers.
When you are approved we provide a wide variety of courses every year to assist with carers’ development. Examples of training courses available include:-
• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
• Support Children and Young people with Autism and Aspergers
• Attachment and Bonding in Abused and Neglected children
• Parent and Child Fosering
(this is a small sample of course many more are available)
There are also additional on-line training courses are available on a wide range of subjects, which can be completed at home.
