How do I deal with older foster children: Wanting their friends round?

Your foster child will inevitably want to bring their friends around when they’re teenagers. Before they do, there are some things you will want to clear up with them:

  • Establish your house rules and what you expect when they come around.
  • Encourage communication around your foster child’s social plans, such as when they’re coming around, how many and how long they’re going to stay.
  • Communicate with your foster child if there’s anything sensitive you need to be aware of, such as dietary requirements or allergies.
