I have been working with the Agency as an SSW since December 2018 and over that time I have been able to develop good working relationships with carers and the children whom we all support. I qualified as a Social Worker in 1993.

My role at Children First is very much a consolidation of all the work that I have previously undertaken, and I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to use my experience to support carers. Being an SSW has enabled me to build on my relationships with carers and I hope that I have been able to offer help, guidance, and a listening ear in the good times and in times of difficulty. I never cease to be amazed by the commitment and caring nature of our Foster Carers towards the children we support.  It is also good to have committed colleagues around me, and to know that we all share the same vision. The Agency very much has a sense of working together in the best interests of our children and young people and this is evident through the various events that we arrange for children and carers.  Being a small Agency enables us to all have a general knowledge of all our carers and children and we try to build on this with our support groups and the consistent support we offer our carers.

I was proud to be part of the team when we were awarded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted at our most recent inspection.
